Report a security problem
If you think you've found a security problem in FootyBox, its setup page or this website, email contactfootybox@gmail.com. Please include what you found, how to reproduce it, and how to reach you.
- We'll confirm we've received your report within 5 working days.
- We'll keep you updated while we investigate and fix it, and tell you when a fix is released.
- Please give us a reasonable time to fix a problem before you make it public. We won't take legal action against anyone who reports a problem to us in good faith.
How long it gets security updates
Each FootyBox gets security updates over Wi-Fi, installed automatically. We commit to providing security updates for at least 3 years from the date you receive your box.
How your box is protected
- A unique password for every box. There's no shared default password. Each box makes its own random password the first time it starts, and shows it on its screen during setup.
- The setup network is protected by that password, and the settings page on your home network asks for it too.
- It only does one job. The box fetches scores and shows them. It has no camera and no microphone.
- Your Wi-Fi password stays on the box. It's stored on the device and used only to join your network. It isn't sent to us.
- Updates are signed, so the box only installs software that comes from us.
Wiping your box
Before you give your box away, start setup again (switch it off and on three times in a row, each within ten seconds) and save the new owner's details, or ask us how to wipe it fully.
